NICE, France, Feb. 23, 2019–Juliette Ramel on Buriel K.H. won the CDI3* Grand Prix Special Saturday in the first competition for the Swedish team partnership since the World Equestrian Games last September.
Juliette and the 13-year-old KWPN gelding scored 76.064 per cent to turn the tables on her World Games team mate and coach Patrik Kittel on Well Done de la Roche who was awarded 75.362 per cent. France’s Anne Sophie Serre on Vistoso de Massa was third on 72.064 per cent.
The score Saturday was the highest for Juliette and Buriel in the Special in almost five years at Big Tour except for the Tryon result of 77.280 per cent.
The results for Patrik and Well Done and to a lesser extent Juliette and Buriel were skewed for the second day in a row by the marks of Spanish FEI 5* judge Francisco Guerra Diaz.
He awarded Patrik and the 11-year-old Swiss Warmblood mare 71.195 per cent and third placing in the Special compared with marks of a low of 74.787 per cent to a high of 77.340 per cent for the other four judges. In the Grand Prix Friday, the Spanish jurist gave Patrik and Well Done 72.826 per cent with scores from the other four judges ranging from a low of 77.717 per cent and a high of 79.130 per cent.
For Juliette, the Spanish official marked her at 69.783 placing her sixth while scores from the other four judges placing her second ranged from a low of 73.370 per cent to a high of 74.239 per cent.=
