LEUDELANGE, Luxembourg, July 3, 2018–Germany’s Felicitas Hendricks, who took two years away from competition on Faible AS to finish high school after being the world No. 1 junior combination, rode her 14-year-old gelding to their first CDI Young Rider victory Tuesaday.

The 18-year-old rider and Faible scored 71.078 per cent for the win in only their second competition since starting Young Rider at the Hagen, Germany Future Champions three weeks ago. Hagen was the first CDI for the pair since the Global Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida on the 2016 winter circuit where their string of 11 victories boosted them to No. 1 junior in the world.

Great Britain’s Jade Ellery, who began her Young Rider career on Porsche’s Eloy at Wellington this year, placed second on 68.971 per cent. Luxembourg’s Charlotte Remy on Hofgraf placed third on 68.529 per cent.

Felicitas received Faible as a surprise gift four years ago after working to prepare the Westfalen for sale at the stables of Christoph and Patricia Koschel in Hagen. Felicitas’s mother is a neice of Patricia.

She and Faible traveled with the Koschels to Wellington in 2015 and again in 2016. But they stayed home for the next two seasons while finishing high school.

Felicitas and Faible had what Christoph called “a great comeback” at Leudelange.

Next month, she starts full-time as a rider on the Koschel Dressage team which, he said, “makes me really proud.” She plana to work for a year with the Koschels and study the horse business toward becoming a professional rider.

Her dream is to work on the American West Coast for a few months and then move to Wellington.
