HASTINGS, New Zealand, Mar. 17, 2018–John Thompson rode his JHT Antonello to their highest Grand Prix Special score to win the second leg of the Horse of the Year CDI3* championship Saturday.
In their third year at Big Tour, John and the 16-year-old New Zealand-bred Hanoverian scored 71.340 per cent to win the Special a day after placing second in the Grand Prix.
The Olympic combination of Julie Brougham and Vom Feinsten that had won the Grand Prix Friday were runner-up in the Special on a score of 69.915 per cent.
Debbie Barke on Lucrative SW was third on 65.085 per cent.
