HASTINGS, New Zealand, Mar. 18, 2018–John Thompson and JHT Antonello rode for a personal best score to win the the New Zealand Horse of the Year CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle championship Sunday.

John and the 16-year-old New Zealand-bred Hanoverian scored 74.525 per cent for the victory a day after capturing the Grand Prix Special and placing second in the Grand Prix on Friday.

The Olympic combination of Julie Brougham and Vom Feinsten placed second for the second day with a score of 73.700 per cent. The pair won the Grand Prix Friday and were runner-up in the Special.

Wendi Williamson on Don Amour MH were third on 69.850 per cent.
