BOGOTA, Colombia, Nov. 21, 2017–Julio Mendoza and Chardonnay won the Bolivarian Games individual gold medal Tuesday, two days after leading Ecuador to team gold.

Julio and the United States-bred 12-year-old Oldenburg gelding scored 73.820 per cent for the victory in the Bolivarians held once every four years. The pair that competed at small tour at the 2015 Pan American Games were also highest placed individually in the team competition.

Maria Jose Granja and Emiliano AP, team mates on the Ecuador squad, won silver on 68.990 per cent in the individual final that was at Young Rider level.

Colombia’s Sergio Muñoz Laverde on Dark Dancer took the bronze on 68.250 per cent. Colombia won team siver.
