COMPIÈGNE, France, May 21, 2017–United States’ Young Rider Lauren Asher and Honnerup’s Event placed second in the CDIY Freestyle Sunday in the first European competition for the pair after the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida in winter.
Lauren, 20 years old and the 12-year-old Danish Warmblood mare scored 74.000 per cent behind the Netherlands’ Lisanne Zoutendijk on Kostendrukkers Ringo Star on 75.100 per cent.
Lauren, based in Wellington in winter and the Netherlands in summer, placed fourth in the young rider team competition and sixth in individual.
“I had a wonderful competition,” Lauren said, “every day my horse got a bit better, I rode a bit better, and the scores increased each day.”
She gave credit to coaches Oded Shimoni in Wellington and Coby and Marlies van Baalen with whom she is based in the Netherlands.
“It was so much fun and quite inspiring to be alongside the senior American riders as they competed in the Nations Cup.”
Lauren plans to compete extensively in Europe throughout the summer before returning to Wellington in late fall.
