WELLINGTON, Florida, Jan. 12, 2015–Lars Petersen, the Florida-based Danish team rider, topped the money winning list after the opening international competition at the Global Dressage Festival with Florida show newcomer Michael Klimke of Germany in second place in the standings compiled by dressage-news.com and presented by Cunningham & Cunningham Livestock insurance.
Lars, who lives in Wellington and finished 2014 as the top money earner on the Global circuit, won a total of $5,160 for victory on the mare Mariett in the World Cup Freestyle and the pair’s placing in the Grand Prix at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.
Michael Klimke competed two horses at small tour and earned a total of $4,200 for second place in the first appearance on the Florida circuit by the German rider.
Mikala Gundersen, a team mate of Lars Petersen for Denmark at last summer’s World Equestrian Games and also based in Wellington, was third in the standings with $3,620.
America’s Lisa Wilcox of Wellington was in the fourth spot with $3,170 while Swedish Olympian Tinner Vilhelmson-Silfvén was fifth with earnings of $2,850 and Allison Brock of the U.S. in sixth place with $2,500.
