Vici Max-Theurer Sweeps Achleiten CDI3* Big Tour, USA’s Tina Konyot & Calecto 2nd in Grand Prix, Special With Personal Best Score

ACHLEITEN, Austria, June 9–Victoria Max-Theurer and Augustin OLD won the CDI3* Grand Prix Special in their first competition since last summer’s Olympics while the USA’s Tina Konyot and Calecto V posted a personal best result to be runnerup in their first European show since the London Games.

At what is their home show, Vici won every Big Tour competition–the Grand Prix with 76.532 per cent and the Special with 75.604 per cent on Augustin, and on Blind Date took the Grand Prix with 74.532 per cent and the Freestyle with 75.125 per cent.

Tina of Palm City, Florida and her 15-year-old Danish Warmblood stallion (Come Back II x Rastell) scored 73.042 per cent in the Special that surpassed their previous best Grand Prix Special result of 72.644 per cent at the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida 15 months ago.

The second place for the pair came a day after posting 72.021 per cent to also put them in second in the Grand Prix.

Calecto, she said, is “getting better and better” and although he is 15 “feels like he is eight years old. Fresh and happy.”

Marcela Krinke Susmelj of Switzerland and Smeyer’s Molberg were third both days with 72.875 per cent in the Special and 71.298 per cent in the Grand Prix.

Tina and Calecto that she has been competing at international Grand Prix for almost four years have been named to the United States Nations Cup team at the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany at the end of June.

She was one of several top American combinations to be awarded grants train and compete in Europe this summer ahead of the World Equestrian Games in Normandy in 2014.

In addition to the 2012 Olympics, Tina and Calecto were members of the U.S. team at the 2010 WEG in Kentucky.

Vici and the 13-year-old Augustin, an Oldenburg stallion (August der Starke x Rohdiamant) was coming back from a long break after the Olympics and the three-time Olympian has focused on developing Blind Date as another of her Grand Prix mounts.

The victory with the first Freestyle on the 11-year-old Hanoverian mare (Breitling x Donnerhall) was the 10th in 16 starts since their first CDI outing which was at this event a year ago.
