VERDEN, Germany, Oct. 15–The German three-year-old champion Lemony’s Nicket was sold to Harmony Sporthorses of the United States on Saturday for a record Hanoverian elite auction price of €900,000 (US$1,250,000).

Lemony’s Nicket, (Londonderry x Weltmeyer) was champion at the 2011 Bundeschampionate and awarded premium status for breeding by the licensing committee.

The stallion apparently will remain in Germany.

Eighty-five hors were offered and all ssold o earn a total of €3,679,000 (US$5,100,00).

The 125th Hanoverian elite auction closed with 14 horses sold for more than €50,000 (US$69,400)

Buyers from the U.S. were the largest group of purchasers with four horses, followed by Belgium, Great Britain and Russia with three horses each.

Six weeks before the auction, the stallion posted high scores at the Bundeschampionate in Warendorf and just days ago was licensed as premium.

“We are pleased that this horse will remain in Germany,” breeding manager Dr. Werner Schade said.
