LEIPZIG, Germany, May 1–Spectators, riders, partners and others at the World Cups of Jumping, Dressage, Driving and Vaulting donated €10,000 (US$14,800) to help victims of tornadoes in the United States.

Stanislav Tillich, prime minister of Saxony, initiated the fund raising while visitors, riders, media, partners and vendors were in Leipzig for the annual global championships of the four equestrian disciplines.

Volker Wulff, of the show organizer En Garde GmbH, donated the check to George H. Morris, the chef d’equipe for the U.S. jumping team that included about 20 jumper riders plus three dressage competitors.

The presentation was made at the final news conference of the event on Sunday.
