MELBOURNE, Australia, Nov. 11, 2022–Lindsey Ware and Aristede Australian-bred gelding, won the Equitana World Cup Freestyle Friday while Jessica Dertell and Cennin sustained the first loss in eight starts since the partnership began at Big Tour two months ago.
Lindsey and the 17-year-old Aristede scored 71.875% for the win the first for the rider since moving up from Under-25 almost two years ago.
Kerry Mack and the home bred Mayfield Limelight, 15-year-old gelding, was third on 69.305%.
Jessica and the 15-year-old KWPN stallion Cennin were awarded 68.850% for third. The result came after seven straight victories since launching their Big Tour partnership Down Under two months ago. The pair won the Grand Prix two days ago on a score of 68.152%.
The World Cup Pacific League Final in Bawley Park Feb. 23-26 is the next and last competition to decide the sole Australian assured one of the 18 starting places at Omaha.
Cennin was competed for the Netherlands by Madeleine Witte-Vrees from Small Tour in 2014 to the European Championships in 2017, the 2018 World Equestrian Games and World Cup Finals in Omaha in 2017 and Paris in 2018.
The horse was bought for Jessica to compete.
