
LIER, Belgium, May 24. 2026–World No. 3 combination of Justin Verboomen and Zonik Plus won the CDIO4* Freestyle Sunday for the third score above 90% in the past five months.
Justin and the 10-year-old black stallion scored 90.015% in what the rider said will be the pair’s last competition before the World Championships in Aachen, Germany in three months.
The musical performance victory came after Justin and Zonik led Belgium to gold in the Nations Cup a day earlier.
Team mate Larissa Pauluis on her double Olympic mount, the 16-year-old Flambeau, scored 81.750% to place second, as they did individually in the Nations Cup.
Germany’s Semmieke Rothenberger on the 16-year-old gelding Farrington was third on 79.745%.
Wim Verwimp, also on Belgium’s gold medal Nations Cup team, rode the Portuguese-bred gelding Jedai de Massa to victory on a personal best 73.107% in the Grand Prix Special.
Portugal’s Maria Caetano on Hit Plus, also a Portuguese-bred gelding aged 14, was narrowly behind on 73.042%.
Susan Pape of Great Britain on Harmony’s Guililanta, 15-year-old Dutch-bred mare owned by Harmony Sporthorses of the USA and Susan, placed third on 72.468%.
