WELLINGTON, Florida, Sept. 9, 2025–A new covered arena near completion is built at Wellington International show grounds.
The arena measuring inside at 200 ft. by 419 ft. (61×127 meters) and built by Coastal Steel Structures of neighboring Lake Worth is 60 ft. (18m) longer than the Van Kampen covered arena at Wellington’s Global Dressage Festival facility.
The new covered arena is located in the previously construction-free area on the south side of the 111-acre (45Ha) show grounds.
Next winter will be the last for Global at its current location before moving to the main Wellington International grounds that has been primarily for jumping and hunters, including the Winter Equestrian Festival that in its 50 years of existence has become one of the world’s largest and most prestigious horse shows.
“This new covered arena will allow riders and horses to train and compete at the highest level year-round, while offering spectators an unmatched experience,” said Murray S. Kessler, CEO of Wellington International. “We are especially proud to be building this structure with Coastal Steel Structures, not only as our construction partner but also as a valued sponsor of Wellington International and the Global Dressage Festival. This arena is an investment in the future of our sport, our venue, and the generations of champions yet to come.” —
“This project,” said Chris Glykas, President of Coastal Steel Structures, “is more than steel and structure. It is fulfilling a vision we have long held. To partner with an organization as distinguished as Wellington International is a privilege, and to build an arena of this scale for a community we deeply love is truly inspiring. We proudly create a space to elevate the experience for riders, horses, and spectators at the sport’s highest level.”
Wellington International hosts more than 40 weeks of equestrian competition, and is owned by Wellington Lifestyle Partners. It contributes more than $536 million to Palm Beach County’s GDP and creates more than 4,000 jobs.
