VEJER DE LA FRONTERA, Spain, Mar. 20, 2025–José Antonio Garcia Mena of Spain and the Lusitano stallion Gladiador do Lis won the Sunshine Tour CDI3* Grand Prix Thursday with Spain’s five-time Olympian Beatriz Ferrer-Salat on Elegance runner-up.

José and the 14-year-old Gladiador scored 70.326% for the win, the first this year after a run of four victories a year ago.

Beatriz, who celebrated her 59th birthday a week ago, and the 16-year KWPN gelding that was her Tokyo Games mount, were close behind on 70.000%.

Portugal’s Rita Ralao Duarte on her Paris Olympic partner Irao, 12-year-old Lusitano gelding, placed third on 69.652%.
