WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 9, 2025–Commonwealth riders swept the Buffalo Wild Wings Future Challenge Prix St. Georges Sunday with Belinda Trussell of Canada riding Quincy to victory and Australia’s Hope Beerling runner-up on Top Gem.

Belinda and the 15.3-hand (155 cm) eight-year-old Hanoverian mare (Quantensprung x De Niro) received 71.412% for the win.

Hope and the eight-year-old Oldenburg mare (Top Gear OLD x Sir Donnerhall) placed second on 69.823%.

The top two placegetters qualify for the Global Dressage Festival circuit-ending final at the end of March.

Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu of Canada on Leeghwater, nine-year-old KWPN gelding (Fanklin 54 x Tango) was third on 69.794% while Hope Beerling on the nine-year-old mare Evaslunds Daydream (Hesselhøj Donkey Boy x Blue Hors Doolittle) was fourth on 68.764%.

Belinda, a two-time Olympian and in four World Games, described Quincy as like a sports car but all business.

“One thing I think that makes a top horse is that when they’re tired or in a new environment, she’s never really been in an environment like this, and they dig deep, and she digs deep. She’s absolutely incredible, but she’s very funny. Like her personality is very much like, it’s all business, now we get down to business. You do your job, I’ll do my job. And it’s an incredible feeling, she’s so with you as a rider. It’s beautiful.

“She’s so compact yet supple and handy. That’s what is amazing about her. She reacts so quickly. You can turn on a dime, you can ask her to sit, you can ask her to go forward. She has amazing natural balance. It just feels easy for her.

“I’m grateful to have a horse like that under me. And I really feel she loves it. She loves her work. Like this morning, she actually ran on the trailer. We were like, whoa, whoa, slow down.”
