STUTTGART, Germany, Nov. 15, 2024–Isabell Werth on her Olympic gold medal mount Wendy de Fontaine dominated the World Cup Grand Prix Friday
The German rider and the 10-year-old Danish Warmblood mare were awarded 79.217% in their first competition since the Paris Games 3 1/2 months ago and close to the personal best of 79.363% posted there.
Isabell, at the age of 55 the most decorated equestrian in Olympic history, is in her 26th year of World Cup competition including five victories, the first in her inaugural championship in 1992.
She won the qualifier at Lyon, France on DSP Quantaz earlier this month in pursuing a start at the Final in Basel, Switzerland next April.
Belgium’s Larissa Pauluis on Flambeau, the 14-year-old KWPN gelding she competed at Paris, was runner-up on 73.718%.
Bianca Nowag-Aulenbrock of Germany on the 12-year-old mare Florine OLD placed third on 73.282%.
The Freestyle to decide points is scheduled for Saturday.
