Spain’s Borja Carrascosa rode Sir Hubert NRW to victory on a personal best score to win the World Cup Grand Prix Saturday, the first qualifier ever in Mexico for the individual championship. USA’s Kevin Kohmann on his World Cup Final mount Dünensee was runner-up for the top placed North American.

Borja and the 11-year-old Westfalen gelding that competed at this year’s World Cup Final were awarded 72.217% for the win.

Kevin Kohmann and Dünensee, 15-year-old Hanoverian gelding that also competed in last April’s Final, scored 70.022%.

The American pair, based in Wellington, Florida, lead the North American standings after a win at the only qualifier so far this season.

Devon Kane, married to Kevin, and her 12-year-old Westfalen gelding Vamos placed third on 64.478%.

The Freestyle to decide points is scheduled for Sunday.
