HAGEN, Germany, June 7, 2024–Steffen Peters and Suppenkasper became the top placed United States Olympic short listed partnership when the pair placed third overall Friday to complete two days of the Horses & Dreams CDI3* Grand Prix.

Steffen and the 16-year-old KWPN gelding that claimed team silver at the Tokyo Games scored 72.869% to move the rider closer to selection for the American team at Paris at the end of July that would be the rider’s sixth Olympics.

Anna Buffini on Fiontini, her 14-year-old Danish Warmblood mare, scored 71.783% for the fourth highest score by an American duo to place seventh in the final lineup. If the two-time World Cup rider earns one of the three team places in Paris it would be her first Olympic

Denmark’s Olympic rider Nanna Skodborg Merrald on Blue Hors Zepter took first place with 78.739% in Thursday’s competition. Patrik Kittel of Sweden on Jovian was runner-up on 74.783%.

Finland’s Henri Ruoste on Tiffanys Diamond scored 72.239% on Friday to finish fourth.

Adrienne Lyle on Helix, a new Zen Elite partnership, scored 71.956% on Thursday to end up fifth overall and to lead a group of four U.S. riders and horses in the first head-to-head competition of America’s top Olympic prospects.

Endel Ots on Zen Elite’s Bohemian was next on 71.891% followed by Anna and Fiontini on 71.783% and then Ashley Holzer on Hansel on 71.456%.

The U.S. riders now must decide on a second competition ahead of announcement of the team later this month.
