Seven riders and eight horses have been selected for the United States dressage short list to go to Europe to compete for three places and a reserve on the team for the Paris Olympics at the end of July.
The lineup announced by the U.S. Equestrian Federation Wednesday includes Steffen Peters on Suppenkasper seeking the pair’s second Olympics and, if chosen for Paris, the rider’s sixth Games, and three horses, Helix and Lars van de Hoenderheide ridden by Adrienne Lyle and Zen Elite’s Bohemian ridden by Endel Ots, owned by Heidi Humphries’ Zen Elite Equestrian Center that are new to their American athletes.

—Anna Buffini, 29, of Rancho Santa Fe, California on Fiontini, 14-year-old Danish Warmblood mare (Fassbinder x Romanov), owned by Anna.
—Anna Marek, 35, of the Ocala area community of Dunnellon, Florida on Fire Fly, 14-year-old KWPN gelding (Briar Junior x 00 Seven) owned by Janet Simile.
—Katherine Bateson-Chandler, 49, of Wellington on Haute Couture, 12-year-old KWPN mare (Connaisseur x IPS Krack C) owned by Katherine and Jennifer Huber.
Marcus Orlob, 42, of Loxahatchee, Florida on Jane, 10-year-old KWPN mare (Desperado x Metall), owned by Alice Tarjan.
Athletes and horses must compete in a minimum of two CDIs between May 8 and June 25, 2024, that must include at least one of the observation events: Le Mans CDI4* May 30-June 2, Hagen CDI3* June 6-9 and Rotterdam CDIO5* June 19-23.
Selection of other horses as team prospects has not been ruled out.
Several other U.S. horses are already in Europe, including Anna Marek’s World Cup mount Fayvel and Kevin Kohmann’s Duenensee, and others may travel there as individuals.
Final team selection will be announced by June 25, 2024. All nominations to the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team are subject to approval by the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.
