Catherine Haddad, who has competed as an American in two World Cup Finals and seven Nations Cups at some of the most prestigious events on both sides of the Atlantic, confirmed Sunday she has decided to ride for her homeland of Lebanon.

Catherine, 59 years old, is identified by the international equestrian federation as competing for Lebanon, with dual Lebanese and U.S. citizenship.

She has not competed internationally since early 2021 but operates successful horse development programs in New Jersey and Florida.

Catherine was stationed in Germany from 1993 to 2012 where she represented the United States in competitions throughout Europe at both national and international levels. With Maximus JSS, Cadillac and Winyamaro, she accumulated more than 120 top 10 placings and wins at Grand Prix.

In 2006, she was alternate for the U.S. dressage team at the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany. In 2007, with Maximus JSS, she finished seventh at the 2007 World Cup Final in Las Vegas.

Catherine was reserve for the U.S. team for the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky in 2010.

She returned to the U.S. in 2012 and opened training facilities in New Jersey and Florida.

Catherine graduated with honors from Michigan State University in 1987. She received the BHSAI certificate from the British Horse Society and has been awarded both the German and U.S. Dressage Federation gold medals for dressage.
