LE MANS, France, Oct. 21, 2023–Ryan Torkkeli and Sternenwanderer won the CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle on a personal best score Saturday for the Canadian rider’s first double victory in 2 1/2 years competing in Europe.
Ryan and the 17-Rhinelander gelding scored 74.995% for the musical performance following Friday’s Grand Prix win.
With the finishing order the same as in the Grand Prix, Larissa Pauluis of Belgium and First- Step Valentin, 11-year-old Westfalen stallion, was second on 74.730%.
Great Britain’s Ellen McCarthy on Brave Heart, nine-year-old Oldenburg gelding, placed third on a personal best 74.665% in only the pair’s second Big Tour Freestyle.
