PALGRAVE, Ontario, July 21, 2023–Brittany Fraser-Beaulieu, Canadian Olympian and championship medalist, debuted nine-year-old Jaccardo for victory in the Caledon CDI1* Prix St. Georges Friday with one of the top Small Tour scores in the country in this Pan American Games year.
Brittany and the KWPN gelding (Desperado x Jazz) that was bought by Canada’s Jill Irving in May scored 73.039% for the win. However, the result came too late for the Pan Am declaration deadline set by Equine Canada.
The score is second only to Olympic team mate Chris von Martels on the 10-year-old Hannoverian mare Londoncrown that posted 73.235% in the CDI3* St. Georges at Ocala, Florida two months ago.
However, Jacc as Jaccardo is named in the barn, had been competed by USA’s Mary Lauritsen in Wellington and Ocala this past winter.
“Our partnership together is still very new,” said Brittany, “but he is an incredible horse and we are so lucky to have him.”
The Pan Am Games in Santiago, Chile where teams can consist of both Small and Big Tour horses are still three months away, scheduled for Oct. 22-25.
Brittany has been among the top Canadian riders having competed All In, now 18 years old, for Canada at the Tokyo Olympics, the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon and the 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games at Small Tour for both team and freestyle silver medals.
Shannon Dueck, based in Loxahatchee, Florida was runner-up on Angelika MW on 69.951%.
Evi Strasser on Deja Vu Tyme, 16-year-old Hanoverian gelding, won the CDI3* Grand Prix on 67.935%.
Mathilde Tétreault on Fedor, 13-year-old KWPN gelding, placed second on 67.630%.
