The World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Florida will stage five international dressage events–including two World Cup qualifiers–in 2023, up from three CDIs in each of the first two years of the spectacular show grounds. Ten national events are also on the 2023 WEC calendar where dressage is sponsored by Hampton Green Farm and Discover Dressage.
The lineup announced by World Equestrian Center lists a dressage competition for each month except for June and July in mid-summer. None of the international competitions clash with the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, 245 miles/395km which will host seven CDIs over the winter.
“We were extremely pleased with the feedback we received from our dressage customers this year,” said WEC Director of Operations Vinnie Card. “It’s an honor to host their competitions and see so many return for each show and enjoy everything our facility has to offer. This year’s expanded schedule shows the popularity of dressage at WEC, and we look forward to watching the competition and cheering them on in 2023.”
The 2023 dressage competition at WEC:
Jan. 19-22 – USEF/USDF competition
Feb. 23-26 – USEF/USDF competition
Mar. 9-12 – USEF/USDF competition
Apr. 13-16 – CDI 3* & USEF/USDF competition
May 25-28 – CDI 3* & USEF/USDF competition
Aug. 24-27 – USEF/USDF competition
Sept. 14-17 – CDI 3* & USEF/USDF competition
Oct. 19-22 – USEF/USDF competition
Nov. 16-19 – CDI-W & USEF/USDF competition
Dec. 7-10 – CDI-W & USEF/USDF competition
The quality of the WEC show grounds, including more than 2,000 permanent stables, and multiple competition arenas–among them several air conditioned indoors–as well as restaurants and other permanent facilities has made it a popular destination for competitors and supporters throughout the southeast United States.
In 2021, the inaugural year of the venue, WEC hosted eight weeks of dressage, including three international competitions. In 2022, a total of 11 competitions were staged that also included three CDIs.
