WELLINGTON, Florida, Mar. 27, 2022–Jennifer Williams and Joppe K won the Lövsta Future Challenge developing Grand Prix Sunday, just two weeks after being undecided whether to stay at Small Tour or begin moving to top sport.

Charlotte Jorst on the spectacular moving Zhaplin Langholt captured the Summit Farm Future Challenge Prix St. Georges with a performance to give confidence to seek a start at Aachen, the premier European event.

The Future Challenge finals of qualifiers throughout the Global Dressage Festival winter circuit are designed as stepping stones to international high performance sport. Qualifiers, as are the finals, are staged in Global’s centerpiece international arena before panels of international judges–three of the five judges were top ranked FEI 5*.

Jennifer, of Olympia, Washington who was U.S. Grand Prix champion on Millione two years ago, was awarded 70.052% on Joppe K in the Lövsta final of the Global Dressage Festival winter circuit series.

Joppe, an eight-year-old KWPN gelding (Harmony’s Rousseau x Santano), displayed “an element of fire in there that I was loving, and that I think gave him that extra spark in the test… that quality for the future.”

Kelly Layne, a Wellington-based Australian Olympic team rider, was runner-up on Fernando with 68.815%. The result on Fernando, a 10-year-old Hanoverian gelding (Foundation 2 x Sandro Hit), came after Kelly curtailed her competition schedule this winter to deal with family health issues.

Alice Tarjan of Oldwick, New Jersey, on Jane, an eight-year-old KWPN mare (Desperado x Metall) scored 68.368% for third place. Jane is among the string of horses she finds as youngsters and develops, including three Big Tour Grand Prix horses, Serenade MF, Candescent and Donatella M.

Alice also competed Summersby II, a seven-year-old Oldenburg mare, (Sezuan x Sandro Hit) in the Summit Farm developing Prix St. Georges.

Charlotte Jorst, among the top contenders with Kastel’s Nintendo for a European tour to decide the U.S. team for the world championships in Herning, Denmark in August, received a score of 75.029% on Zhaplin Langholt for the Prix St. Georges.

Charlotte, of Reno, Nevada, who admits she hates getting up early, was awake by 7 a.m. and found Zhaplin, a nine-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding (Glock’s Zonick x Stendinger) relaxed and ready to go.

If she had known that Bianca Berkoldt of Loxahatchee, Florida on Imperial had scored 74% “I would’ve had a nervous breakdown.” Instead, she said, “I just went in there today to do my best and so did he. And he just went, and I had a mistake-free test.’

Bianca who had ridden Imperial, a nine-year-old KWPN mare (Charmeur x Vivaldi) on the American Nations Cup team two weeks ago, scored 74.117% for runner-up.
