BONEO, Australia, Jan. 23, 2022–Jayden Brown riding Senator Nymphenburg in the 12-year-od gelding’s Big Tour debut won the CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday to give the pair an early start contending for a place on Australia’s team at the world championships in August.

The 33-year-old rider and the Westfalen gelding scored 75.170% for the victory that was also the highest ever international competition result for Jayden. in the Grand Prix that was the first international Big Tour dressage competition in Australia in two years and specially organized with a panel of five Australian judges.

John Thompson, the Australian-based Kiwi plasced second on Chemistry on 74.090% with victory in the one-time CDI3* Grand Prix Special with Lindsey Ware on Aristede third on 71.485%. Only four horse and rider combinations started in the Freestyle following the Grand Prix Friday and the Special Saturday.

Mary Hanna, a six-time Olympian, rode Syriana to victory in both the Grand and the Special but did not compete in the Freestyle.

Jayden and Senator matched Mary’s Grand Prix score of 71.022% that was more than enough for a minimum score required to qualify for the world championships in Herning, Denmark.
