KRONBERG, Germany, Dec. 19, 2021–Total Hope OLD, the Totilas son competed by Isabel Freese of Norway, won the Louisdor Prize, the German championship for developing Grand Prix horses two years after capturing the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal, the national title for Prix St. Georges.
The nine-year-old Oldenburg black stallion (Totilas x Blue Hors Don Schufro) was ridden by Isabel for a score of 77.540% for the win in the competition for horses aged eight to 10. The pair took the preliminary class Saturday. Isabel and Total Hope captured the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal in 2019.
Germany’s Fabienne Müller-Lütkemeier rode Valencia AS, 10-year-old Westfalen mare (Vitalis x Blue Hors Hotline), for runner-up on 74.180% and also took third place on Valesco, 10-year-old Westfalen gelding (Vitalis x Douceur), on a score of 73.380%.
Helen Langehanenberg rode Straight Horse Ascenzione for the title and Schöne Scarlett as reserve in the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal Sunday, the first victory for the German team rider in the championship for Prix St. Georges horses seven to nine years old.
Helen and the American-owned Ascenzione, eight-year-old Danish Warmblood mare, scored 77.268% for the win with Schöne Scarlett, eight-year-old Hanoverian mare, a fraction behind on 77.000% as reserve champion.
The success of Ascenzione (Blue Hors Zack x Blue Hors Don Schufro) and Schöne Scarlett (Scolari x Londonderry) was at the Schafhof, the home of the Linsenhoff/Rath family that organizes the event. A resurgence of the coronavirus pandemic prevented it being held in the usual center in the city for the second year and led to cancellation of the international division of the traditional Christmas show.
Ascenzione is owned by Tiffany Goldman of Fort Collins, Colorado, well known for competing Shires.
Frederic Wandres, a German team mate of Helen, and Quizmaster, nine-year-old Hanoverian gelding (Quasar de Charry x Velten Third) placed third on 75.463%.
