DEVON, Pennsylvania, Oct. 1, 2021–Michael Bragdell rode Qredit Hilltop to victory on a personal best score in the World Cup Grand Prix Friday and the first Big Tour victory for the American partnership. Canada’s Diane Creech and Chrevis Christo won the CDI3* Grand Prix for the Special.
Michael and the 13-year-old Oldenburg stallion scored 67.132% in the short Grand Prix to kick off the first of eight North American League qualifiers after Covid-19 forced cancellation for the past two years of the annual championship centered on the Freestyle.
Michael of Colora, Maryland began competing Qredit at Big Tour two years ago.
Bridget Hay of Ringoes, New Jersey, and Faolan, in their first CDI Grand Prix, scored 66.737% for runner-up.
Shannon Steven of Annandale, New Jersey and Ferrari were third on 66.316%.
Canada’s Diane Creech and Chrevis Christo won the CDI3* Grand Prix for the Special on a score of 68.761%, the first win as an 18-year-old for the Danish Warmblood gelding.
This was the 40th international competition for the pair since beginning Big Tour in 2015, 38 of those starts were in Canada and the United States and two in Denmark. Diane and Chrevis Christo, owned by Louise Leatherdale of Long Lake, Minnesota, were first partnered in the show ring more than a decade ago and began international competition at Small Tour in 2013 before moving up to Grand Prix.
Fellow Canadian Tanya Strasser-Shostak on Déjà Vu Tyme was runner-up on 65.130%.
