LUDWIGSBURG, Germany, Sept. 24, 2021–Patrik Kittel debuted the nine-year-old stallion Touchdown at Big Tour for victory at the inaugural Ludwigsburg Dressage Festival Friday.
Patrik and the Swedish Warmblood (Quaterback x Sack) was awarded 76.826% for the win. The Swedish rider competed Touchdown at Small Tour a year ago in the only previous international event for the pair. Touchdown was ridden by Philipp Ruwe of Germany to fifth place in the World Five Year Old Championships in 2017.
Germany’s Hubertus Schmidt on Denoix PCH placed second on 72.978%.
Lyndal Oatley of Australia and Eros posted a personal best 72.717% for third place.
Lyndal, married to Patrik Kittel and based in Germany, and the 12-year-old KWPN gelding, began Grand Prix 11 months ago and with just three Big Tour events for the pair pulled out of consideration for Australia’s Olympic team.
