AACHEN, Germany, Sept. 18, 2021–Emmelie Scholtens and Desperado won the World Equestrian Festival CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday in the first competition in more than 20 months for the Dutch team partnership.

Emmelie and the 13-year-old KWPN stallion scored 83.110% for the win. The pair showed once in 2020, the last competition before this year’s Aachen event, and were on the Netherlands’ 2019 European Championships silver medal team.

Dorothee Schneider and DSP Sammy Davis Jr., on the German gold medal teams at the 2018 World Equestrian Games and the 2017 European Championships, were second on 81.210%.

Spain’s José Antonio Garcia Mena on Sorento placed third on 79.440%, almost eight percentage points than their previous international musical performance in July this year.
