HAGEN, Germany, April 23, 2021–Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and TSF Dalera BB posted a personal best score for a narrow victory over Charlotte Dujardin on Mount St. John Freestyle in the Horses & Dreams CDI4* Grand Prix Friday.
The German team combination of Jessica and the 14-year-old Trakehner mare scored 81.652% to best the pair’s previous best of 81.500% set in February 2020, a month before the worldwide lockdown of horse triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic. The partnership ranked No. 3 in the world were on German gold medal teams at the 2018 World Equestrian Games and the 2019 European Championships where they also took the freestyle bronze. The pair won at a World Cup qualifier four months ago before that championship was scuttled for the second year in a row.
Charlotte Dujardin on Mount St. John Freestyle logged a result of 81.457% for runner-up, a day after the British rider captured the CDI4* Grand Prix for the Freestyle on Gio. Charlotte and Freestyle, a 12-year-old Hanoverian mare, are ranked No. 5 in the world and competing a spot in the Special, showed Big Tour in October 2020.
Isabell Werth and DSP Quantaz were third on 78.631%. Isabell and Quantaz are 13th on the world standings, behind the rider on Bella Rose at No. 1, Weihegold OLD at No. 2 and Emilio No. 8.
