Great Britain’s Keysoe Spring International  CDI3* scheduled for Mar. 19-21 has been canceled leaving only one Big Tour dressage event on the calendar ahead of the Olympics in July after all but one of the nine international shows were canceled in 2020.

British Dressage and the Keysoe organizers announced Friday that “lockdown restrictions and ongoing uncertainty has made it extremely difficult” to prepare for the event on such short notice. The complexity and expense of running the competition under Covid restrictions and elite sport protocols meant it was not possible to go ahead.

The only other CDI on the calendar ahead of the Olympics is the CDI4* at Windsor May 13-14. Windsor was one of the eight out of nine CDIs canceled in 2020. The only event to be held in 2020 was Keysoe CDI3* in October.

The Hartpury CDI3* is on the calendar for July 7-11, but that is too late for selection for a team if the Olympics are held as they are currently scheduled to begin in Tokyo late July.

British Dressage said it is working with venues and the World Class program to ensure sufficient dates in spring for alternative competition and qualification opportunities, particularly for athletes aiming for the Olympic/Paralympic Games and the European Championships scheduled for Hagen, Germany.
