WAYNE, Illinois, Aug. 21, 2020–Endel Ots rode Sonnenberg’s Everdance to victory in the Intemediate 1 Freestyle Friday for a sweep of the United States championship series and his second straight national title. Sara Hassler on Harmony’s Boitano captured the Under-25 Brentina Cup Championship.

Endel of Wellington, Florida and the American-bred 11-year-old KWPN mare scored 77.645% to complete the sweep of the Prix St. Georges and the Int. 1 during the week-long Festival of Champions of 14 national titles.

David Blake of Cardiff by the Sea, California on Heide Spirit clinched the reserve championship with a freestyle score of 74.700%. The pair placed second in Int. 1 and third at St. Georges.

Callie Jones of Henderson, Kentucky, and Don Philippo were third in the freestyle on 72.695%.

Endel began competing Everdance (Johnson TN x Zeoliet) at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington in February, winning two starts at small tour. Everdance was bred and owned by Sonnenberg Farm LLC of Sherwood, Oregon.

He was the Int. 1 champion on Lucky Strike in 2019 and also on Lucky Strike earned the developing Prix St. Georges title in 2018. The duo were selected for the U.S. Pan American Games team last year but the horse was injured while being transported to Miami for the flight to Lima, Peru.

Sara Hassler and Harmony’s Boitano won the Under-25 “Brentina Cup” freestyle on 73.060% to earn the championship.

Sara, 24, of Wellington and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding Boitano won the opening Int. II but came second to Kerrigan Gluch and the American-bred P.R.E. Vaquero HGF in the Grand Prix.

Rebecca Roman on Ultimo placed second on 70.245% in the freestyle while Kerrigan and the 13-year-old gelding Vaquero scored 68.425% for third.

Sara Hassler, who is coached by her father, Scott, the former U.S. young horse coach, rode Boitano in the Intermediate 1 division at the 2019 festival. Boitano is owned by Leslie Malone who owns Harmony Sporthorses in Kiowa, Colorado.
