HAGEN, Germany, June 7, 2020–Isabell Werth on Emilio held off a challenge from Benjamin Werndl who placed second on Daily Mirror and third on Famoso in a national Horses & Dream Grand Prix Special Sunday while Hubertus Schmidt on Denoix clinched a start in the Louisdor Prize final for developing Grand Prix horses.

Before a three-judge panel and no spectators in line with coronavirus restrictions, Isabell and the 14-year-old Westfalen gelding were awarded 79.542% for the win. The pair tied with Benjamin and Daily Mirror in the Grand Prix on Saturday.

Benjamin and Daily Mirror, a 16-year-old Westfalen gelding, were second on 78.366% and on Famoso OLD placed third on 77.582%.

Hubertus Schmidt and the American-owned Denoix PCH won the Louisdor Prize qualifier on a score of 78.450% that earned the duo a start at the final of the developing Grand Prix series for eight to 10-year-old horses in Frankfurt in December. Denoix is owned by Nancy Gooding of Plum Creek Hollow Farm in Larkspur, Colorado.

In a repeat of the warmup Saturday, Holga Finken on Gino placed second on was runner-up on 77.364%.

This was the first of five qualifying events in a re-scheduling of the prestigious national series as a result of Covid-19 that put a hold on equestrian events worldwide in mid-March but are now returning, although with tight restrictions aimed at preventing a spread of the virus.
