WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 27, 2020–Japanese Olympian Akane Kuroki rode Zuidenwind to victory in the Adequan Global Dressage Festival CDI3* Grand Prix Thursday in only the second international competition for the pair in Florida seeking to be on her nation’s team at the Tokyo Olympics.
Akane, who competed for Japan at the 2016 Rio Olympics, and the 16-year-old Dutch stallion scored 68.739% for the win at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center.
The pair competed for the first time at the CDI3* in Wellington last week. Akane took over the ride on Zuidenwind from Sweden’s Rose Mathisen who competed the stallion at Big Tour throughout Europe including the 2017 European Championships.
Kiichi Harada, also of Japan who last week won twice on Egistar, rode Fairytale S to second place on 64.239% Thursday.
Nora Batchelder of Williston, Florida and Faro SQF were third on 64.174%.
