At the age of 21, Juan Matute Guimon was the youngest competitor in the World Cup Western European League at Lyon, France. Juan, whose birthday is Nov. 14, rode Quantico, a 13-year-old Hanoverian gelding, at the second of 11 Western European qualifiers leading to the Final in Las Vegas next April. He was the youngest competitor in WEL in 2018. Juan moved from Wellington, Florida to Spain to go to university and pursue his equestrian career in a more competitive year-round environment.
