FALSTERBO, Sweden, July 14, 2019–Sweden won the CDIO5* Nations Cup Sunday to give the defending champions a clear lead in the trans-Atlantic series with two events to go. Germany took silver, the Netherlands bronze and Denmark was fourth.
First and second placings by Patrik Kittel on Well Done de la Roche CMF and Juliette Ramel on Wall Street JV in the Grand Prix Special extended Sweden’s overnight lead.
Patrik and the 11-year-old Swiss Warmblood mare scored 73.532% and Juliette on the 12-year-old gelding were awarded 72.766%.
Frederic Wandres on Westminster placed third on 71.149% with Matthias Alexander Rath on Foundation fourth on 70.234% yo keep Germany in second place.
Denmark’s Daniel Bachmann Andersen on Blue Hors Zack captured the Grand Prix Freestyle with 85.020%.
Jan-Dirk Giesselmann on Real Dancer FRH scored 77.575% for second in the Freestyle that did not change the overall rankings.
Sweden’s Malin Wahlkamp-Nillson on Eddieni was third on 77.265%.
Final standings decided by placings in the Grand Prix, Special and Freestyle: 1. Sweden 22 points; 2. Germany 27; 3. Netherlands 40; 4. Denmark 41.
This was the sixth of eight Nations Cups in the series. Sweden is at the top of the standings with 46 points, Netherlands second on 30, Germany third at 29, Great Britain fourth on 28 and USA fifth on 27.
The results of a newly included Finland event tha was won by Sweden a week ago were not included because only three countries took part and not the required minimum of four.
The next Nations Cup will be Aachen, Germany later this week in which eight countries have entered teams to make it the biggest lineup this year. The finale will be in Hickstead, England in two weeks.
