FALSTERBO, Sweden, July 13, 2019–Sweden took the lead in the CDIO5* Nations Cup Saturday though Denmark’s top championship partnership of Daniel Bachmann Andersen on Blue Hors Zack won the Grand Prix.
Patrik Kittel on Well Done de la Roche, his World Equestrian Games team mount, led Sweden to the top of the standings with a second place on 75.196% and Juliette Ramel on Wall Street JV third on 72.717% after the first of two days of competition in the sixth of eight events in the trans-Atlantic series. Sweden leads the series.
Germany’s lineup led by Jan-Dirk Giesselmann on Real Dancer FRH in fifth place on 72.196% was ranked second based on the order of finish of the top three combinations in each team, and not scores, with the Grand Prix Special and Freestyle to determine the outcome.
Hans Peter Minderhoud on Zanardi on 72.283% for fourth place was the top finisher for the Netherlands that stood third after the Grand Prix.
The top Grand Prix score by Daniel and Zack of 77.500% was not enough to move Denmark above team fourth place. Daniel and the 15-year-old KWPN stallion competed at the 2018 Tryon World Games and the 2018 and 2019 World Cup Finals.
Standings after the Grand Prix: 1. Sweden 16 points; 2. Germany 18; 3. Netherlands 23; 4. Denmark 27.
