CALEDON, Ontario, June 2, 2019–Yvonne Losos de Muñiz posted two victories, the first of the year, in the CDI3* preparing for the Dominican Republic rider’s fifth straight Pan American Games to be staged in Lima, Peru at the end of July.
Yvonne and Aquamarijn, a 14-year-old KWPN mare she competed at the World Cup Final in March, won the Grand Prix Freestyle Sunday on a score of 74.040%. The duo scored 69.022% for third place in the Grand Prix Friday.
Canada’s Naima Moreira-Laliberté competing the 12-year-old Statesman in the pair’s first Big Tour musical performance placed second on 73.310%, after capturing the Grand Prix on a score of 69.957%.
Tina Busse-Irwin on Fancy That placed third on 69.395% in the second CDI Grand Prix on the 13-year-old Oldenburg mare. Tina is the top ranked Canadian on Laurencio in the Small Tour division for Lima.
Yvonne, 51 years old, rode Foco Loco W, a 14-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding, to victory on a score of 66.191% in the Grand Prix Special.
Yvonne became the first Dominican equestrian to compete at an Olympics when she rode Foco Loco at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, as well as the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon last fall.
She won individual bronze medals at the Pan Ams in the Dominican Republic in 2003 and at Rio in 2007, and competed at the 2011 and 2015 continental championships.
