GRANADA, Spain, April 8, 2019–Beatriz Ferrer-Salat debuted the 10-year-old Elegance with a victory in the CDI3* Grand Prix as the Spanish rider began a campaign for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics that would be her fifth Games.
Beatriz and the Dutch Warmblood gelding were awarded 69.413% in the Grand Prix and 70.872% for second place in the Grand Prix Special.
Beatriz has been Spain’s top rider for much of the past two decades earning team silver and individual bronze on Beauvalais at the Athens Olympics in 2004, and team bronze and individual silver at the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Spain.
On Delgado, a Westfalen gelding now 18 years old, Beatriz competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2018 World Games in Tryon as well as the 2015 European Championships where the pair won Freestyle bronze.
Jose Antonio Garcia Mena on Benzi Landro was second in the Grand Prix on a score of 68.761% and won the Freestyle with 74.505%.
The Grand Prix Special was won Juan Antonio Jiménez Cobo on Euclides Mor with a score of 71.234%.
