DORTMUND, Germany, Mar. 9, 2018–Isabell Werth and Don Johnson FRH easily won the CDI4* Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday in the first show this year for the 18-year-old Hanoverian gelding.
Isabell and Don Johnson, starting their ninth year of Big Tour partnership, scored 81.595 per cent for the win after placing second in the Grand Prix to Isabell on Emilio, her world No. 4 ranked mount.
Ingrid Klimke, the German eventing team double Olympic and World Games gold medallist on Franziskus, 11-year-old Hanoverian stallion, scored 76.840 per cent for second.
Portugal’s Marie Caetano on Coroado was third on 72.805 per cent.
Isabell and Don Johnson began their international Grand Prix career in March, 2011. The pair competed on the German team at both the 2013 and 2015 European Championships as well as the 2013 World Cup Final in Gothenburg, Sweden where Isabell will return in four weeks to defend the title she won on Weihegold OLD the past two years.
