HERNING, Denmark, Mar. 8, 2019–Denmark’s Cathrine Dufour and Cassidy made a triumphant return to competition after a break of almost eight months with a victory at the Danish Warmblood stallion show CDI4* Grand Prix Friday.

Daniel Bachmann Andersen, a Danish team mate, placed second on Blue Hors Don Olymbrio on a personal best score while Fiontini, winner of the hat trick of World Young Horse Championships and being competed at Big Tour for the first time by Spain’s Severo Jurado López, placed third.

Cathrine and the 16-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding scored 79.065 per cent for the win in the first competition since last July. The pair competed at the 2016 Olympics and won three bronze medals at the 2017 European Championships. But an injury to Cassidy prevented the horse from going to the World Equestrian Games in Tryon.

Cathrine and Cassidy competed through European Championships for juniors and young riders, capturing four gold medals.

Daniel and the 11-year-old KWPN stallion scored 78.196 per cent, breaking the pair’s previous best of 76.500 set three months ago.

Severo and Fiontini, a Danish Warmblood mare now nine years old, scored 75.913 per cent, with big differences in the judge’s marks–a high of 79.130 from Denmark’s Susan Baarup and a low of 71.739 from Finland’s Maria Colliander.

Severo and Fiontini (Fassbinder x Romanov) won the global championships of five, six and year old horses and will remain partnered at least through the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

Anna Kasprzak, Olympic and World Games rider for Denmark on Donnperignon, rode Rock Star to a personal best 73.717 per cent. This was only the fifth show for Anna and the 11-year-old Westfalen gelding since beginning international Grand Prix almost two years ago, competing only once in 2018, at Herning last October.
