TEMECULA, California, Jan. 25, 2019–Steffen Peters and Suppenkasper won the West Coast Dressage Festival CDI3* Grand Prix Friday on a personal best score in the first competition for the pair since riding on the American team at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon last September.
Steffen and the 11-year-old KWPN gelding scored 75.804 per cent, surpassing their previous best Grand Prix result of 74.587 per cent set a year ago in the duo’s first month of international competition. The horse had been competed previously by German Olympian Helen Langehanenberg.
Nick Wagman and Zenith placed second on 67.913 per cent and David Blake on Lord Albert third on 67.174 per cent.
Nick, of Rancho Santa Fe, California on Don John won the World Cup Grand Prix with a score of 69.978 per cent with Emily Miles on Quantum Jazz second on 66.152 per cent. Only two combinations were in the class.
