WELLINGTON, Florida, Nov. 6, 2018–Monica Burssens, a rider on Mexico’s gold medal team at the Central American and Caribbean Games in July, has given birth to a girl, Lorenza. Both mother and child are doing well.

Monica, 31 years old, lives in Wellington with her husband, Manuel Lecuona, a jumper rider from Mexico City.

Monica took freestyle and overall siver medals in addition to team gold at the Central American Games in Bogotá, Colombia. She is a lifelong equestrian, the daughter of Marisol and Patrik Burssens. Patrik competed at the 1990 World Equestrian Games and the 1999 and 2007 Pan American Games.
