LE MANS, France, Oct. 20, 2018–Great Britain’s Gareth Hughes dominated the CDI3* Saturday, capturing the Grand Prix Freestyle on KK Woodstock and the Grand Prix Special on Classic Briolinca.
The Freestyle for Woodstock was a debut musical performance while Briolinca’s Special victory was a personal best. The results Saturday came after placing first on Briolinca and second on Woodstock in the Grand Prix two days earlier.
Gareth and Woodstock, 12-year-old Baden-Württemberg gelding, were awarded 73.775 per cent in the Freestyle. This was only the second show for the pair, having made their debut at Hickstead, England in July.
Fellow Briton Louise Anne Bell on Into the Blue placed second on 71.700 per cent in the Freestyle while Finland’s Terhi Stegars on Thai Pee was third on 71.125 per cent.
The Grand Prix Special score of 76.149 per cent on Briolinca, a 12-year-old KWPN mare, was the best for the pair since beginning Big Tour in July 2015.
Germany’s Juliette Piotrowski on Sir Diamond placed second on 69.298 per cent with Barbara Clement Klinger of France on Dirbini third on 68.043 per cent.
