VERDEN, Germany, Aug. 4, 2014–Olympic eventing champion Ingrid Klimke and Bluetooth won a ticket to the final of the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal, the German championship for small tour horses, with a victory in the qualifier here Saturday.
Ingrid and the eight-year-old Oldenburg gelding scored 74.707 per cent for the win in the ninth of the 12 qualifiers for the year-end championship for seven-to-nine=year olds at Frankfurt.
The Nürnberger Burg-Pokal has special significance for Ingrid–her father, the late great Reiner Klimke was one of the creators of the series three decades ago.
Jessica Süss on Duisenburg was runner-up on 73,756. per cent.
Nine of the 12 qualifiers for 2018 ahve now been held with Verden International this week the next competition leading to the final in Frankfurt Dec. 13-16.
