ERMELO, Netherlands, July 28, 2018–Edward Gal and Glock’s Zonik easily won the Netherlands Championships Grand Prix Saturday with no surprises in the placings of contenders for the Netherlands team for the World Equestrian Games in six weeks. All of the top placing riders are experienced at Olympics or championships.
Edward and Zonik, a 10-year-old Danish Warmblood stallion that competed at the World Cup Final in Paris in April, were awarded 79.435 per cent from the all Dutch five-member ground jury.
Hans Peter Minderhoud on Glock’s Dream Boy, a 10-year-old KWPN stallion, was second on 74.717 per cent.
Madeleine Witte-Vrees on Cennin, 11-year-old KWPN stallion that competed at the 2017 European Championships and 2017 and 2018 World Cup finals, was third on 74.283 per cent.
Adelinde Cornelissen on Aqiedo, 13-year-old KWPN stallion, placed fourth 73.717 per cent.
The Dutch team of four horses and riders for the World Games in Tryon, North Carolina is expected to be named after the national championships.
