FRITZENS, Austria, July 1, 2018–Bella Rose completed her amazing comeback Sunday with a victory in the CDI4* Grand Prix Special breaking 80 per cent in a performance of the same ride that was the mare’s last in November, 2014 before a years long absence with injury and recovery.

An emotional Isabell, at 48 years old the most decorated equestrian in Olympic history, and Bella Rose were awarded 80.170 per cent for the win, two days after the return of the duo to capture the Grand Prix.

Bella Rose, a Westfalen mare now 14 years old, will return to the world rankings due this coming week to give Isabell four horses in the standings, Weihegold OLD at No. 1, Emilio at No. 3 and Don Johnson FRH at No. 6. She rode Emilio here this week and will compete later Sunday in the Grand Prix Freestyle.

Great Britain’s Emile Faurie on Dono di Maggio posted a personal best score of 75.596 to place second in the Special, and make the pair contenders for his nations’ team for the World Equestrian Gamers in Tryon, North Carolina in September. The Grand Prix score of 74.022 per cent for the pair was also a personal best in the year at Big Tour that began at this sa,e event in 2017.

Dorothee Schneider on Faustus was third on 71.851 per cent.

The highlight of the show, though, was the return of Bella rose, owned by Madeleine Winter Schulze, that Isabell described after the Grand Prix: “This is perhaps the most beautiful day in my riding life.”

She has rated Bella Rose (Belissimo x Cacir AA) the best horse she has ever ridden.

Their career included leading Germany to team gold at the World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France, in 2014.

And the mare is one of the three horses on which Isabell is the only rider in history to have scored 80 per cent at Grand Prix.
