Cathrine Dufour and Cassidy launched their campaign to repeat as Danish champions with an easy victory Thursday in the Grand Prix at the Broholm Horse Show, while Daniel Bachmann Andersen and Blue Hors Zepter as runners-up became contenders for the nation’s team for the World Equestrian Games in Tryon in three months.
Cathrine and the 15-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding, star combination of the 2017 European Championships after Isabell Werth on Weihegold OLD and Sönke Rothenberger on Cosmo, were awarded 80.480 per cent for the win.
The score was the second highest for a Grand Prix for the duo–the personal best was 80.674 per cent at a World Cup event in Sweden in February–but unlike a CDI all five judges at Broholm were Danish, similar to most national championships where ground juries are typically made up of local officials. Cathrine, 26 years old, and Cassidy, are ranked fourth in the world three years after competing in the Under-25 division.
Daniel and Blue Hors Zepter, a 10-year-old Oldenburg stallion, were runners-up on 77.360 per cent.
Anna Zinbrandtsen and Arlando, a 13-year-old KWPN stallion, that were on the 2017 European Championship team, were third on 72.380 per cent.
Daniel on Blue Hors Zack, the sire of Zepter, scored 72.340 per cent for fourth place in the first competition for Zack, 14-year-old KWPN stallion, since the World Cup Final in Paris two months ago.
