MÁRIAKÁLNOK, Hungary, May 5, 2018–Sascha Schulz and Dragao won the World Cup Grand Pix Freestyle Saturday for a double victory and earning a place for the Luxembourg rider at the top of the Central European League standings in the year-long run to the championship final in 2019.

Sascha and the 10-year-old Lusitano stallion posted their fourth win of the year in capturing the musical performance with a score of 74.025 per cent. Success in the Grand Prix and the Freestyle marked the first anniversary of their Big Tour partnership.

In a repeat of the top three placings in the Grand Prix, Germany’s Uwe Schwanz on Hermes was second on 72.250 per cent with Charlotte Lenherr of Switzerland on Darko of De Niro Zs Ch in third on 70.325 per cent.

The 20 points earned by Sascha and Dragao tied the pair with Hanna Karasiova of Belarus who last month won the first of 17 events on the Central European calendar leading to the final in Gothenburg, Sweden next April. However, Luxembourg is in the intensely competitive Western European League where the pair will have to compete to have a chance of being one of nine combinations from that division to win a start in the final.
