BAWLEY POINT, Australia, Feb. 23, 2018–Alexis Hellyer rode Bluefields Floreno in only their third Big Tour event to win the Willinga Park Dressage by the Sea CDI3* Grand Prix Friday and become the 10th pair to earn a qualifying score to qualify for selection for the World Equestrian Games in Tryon in September.
Alexis and the 13-year-old Australian-bred stallion scored 69.760 per cent for the victory, the first win for the pair in five CDI Grand Prix level starts since beginning Big Tour last October. The duo become the 10th horse and rider to achieve the minimum qualifying result of at least 69 per cent.
Gitte Donvig on Sancette that her mother, Mary Hanna, rode for Australia at the 2012 Olympics and the 2014 World Equestrian Games was second on 66.800 per cent.
Heath Ryan and Utopian Cardinal were third with a score of 66.590 per cent.
